As your Democratic justice of the peace for Precinct 9 in 2024! The Primary is July 30th, 2024.

Kendrick Wilson is the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 9, one of the County's most diverse precincts. Precinct 9 includes the University of Arizona, the City of South Tucson, and parts of the Tohono O'odham Nation. He is a native Tucsonan and a University of Arizona graduate. He is honored to serve the citizens of Precinct 9 and believes that everyone who comes to court deserves to be treated with fairness, respect, and dignity.

Judge Wilson was appointed to the bench in 2019. He accepted the appointment when the Honorable Maria Felix-- a longtime mentor and friend-- retired. He was re-elected in 2020.

Judge Wilson has devoted his entire legal career to keeping the citizens of Pima County safe and ensuring that the rights of Victims and Defendants are strictly protected. Before becoming a Justice of the Peace, Judge Wilson worked for 9 years as a prosecutor and specialized in handling domestic violence and animal abuse cases. He worked for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe from 2015 until 2019 and worked from 2010 until 2015 in the Pima County Attorney's Office.

Judge Wilson is widely respected by the Tucson legal community as a whole, including fellow judges, and the defense attorneys, prosecutors, and civil attorneys who appear in his courtroom. He has a wealth of experience both on and off the bench, and is known for ensuring that the constitutional rights of those who appear in his courtroom-- particularly victims and defendants in criminal cases-- are protected.

Experience Matters!

During his time on the bench, Judge Wilson has presided over hundreds of cases involving criminal law, orders of protection, injunctions against harassment, evictions, and various civil matters.

Before becoming a Judge, Judge Wilson was a prosecutor and was licensed to practice law in Arizona and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. He was also certified as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) and appeared in Federal Court. He has practiced in nearly every court in Tucson, including:

  • Pima County Consolidated Justice Court

  • Pima County Superior Court

  • Pascua Yaqui Tribal Court

  • Pascua Yaqui Court of Appeals

  • Tucson City Court

  • U.S. District Court in Tucson

Judge Wilson is regularly asked to teach judges, lawyers, and members of the general public about how the justice system works. He is regularly asked to train people about:

  • Obtaining and Enforcing Orders of Protection

  • Domestic and sexual violence

  • Handling cases that fall under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)

  • Animal Abuse

  • Rules of Evidence and Procedure

  • State and Federal case law relating to various Constitutional issues
